At MAN&BOY, we are fortunate to have incredible supporters who not only benefit from our programmes but continue to give back long after their own journey with us has begun. Few embody that spirit better than Carl Myhill and his son Isaac.
Having attended the MAN&BOY programme several years ago, Carl and Isaac experienced first-hand the positive impact that quality time, shared experiences, and positive male role models can have on family relationships. Since then, they have become valued volunteers, regularly giving their time to support our activities and helping other fathers, sons, and families create lasting memories of their own.
But their commitment doesn't stop there.
Over the past few years, Carl and Isaac have taken their support for MAN&BOY to extraordinary levels through a series of fundraising adventures. Together, they have already trekked an incredible 761 miles as part of their ambitious End-to-End journey across the UK, raising funds to help more families access life-changing MAN&BOY experiences.
Now they are preparing for their biggest challenge yet. On 18th July, Carl and Isaac will set off on the legendary Pennine Way, a gruelling 268-mile route that stretches through some of Britain's most demanding terrain. Known as "The Spine" because it follows the backbone of England's mountain range, the trail is famous for unpredictable weather, remote landscapes, and testing conditions.
This time, the challenge will be tougher than ever. The pair will be wild camping, sleeping in bothies, carrying additional supplies, and navigating everything the British weather can throw at them.
Despite having already completed hundreds of miles together, Carl remains characteristically humble about the challenge ahead:
"Although we've already hiked 761 miles, I'm never that confident we'll make the next leg!"
What makes this challenge even more special is the reason behind it. Every mile walked helps raise funds that enable MAN&BOY to continue providing opportunities for fathers, sons, and male role models to spend meaningful time together, build stronger relationships, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Carl's employer, Bloomberg, has generously committed to match donations, meaning every pound given can have twice the impact. We are incredibly grateful to Carl and Isaac for their dedication, generosity, and determination. Their efforts are a powerful reminder of the lasting impact that MAN&BOY can have and how former participants continue to strengthen our community.
We would love our supporters to get behind Carl and Isaac as they take on this remarkable challenge.
Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us continue creating opportunities for families to enjoy quality time together, share experiences, and benefit from positive role models.
Thank you, Carl and Isaac, and good luck on the Pennine Way. We'll be cheering you on every step of the way!
