Our Commitment to Safeguarding
Safeguarding is central to the work of MAN&BOY. Our programmes bring boys and the men in their lives and adult volunteers together in a supportive environment designed to encourage positive development, healthy relationships and personal growth.
We are committed to creating an environment where every child and young person feels safe, respected and valued. MAN&BOY recognises the right of all children and young people to be protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm, and we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously.
All trustees, staff, volunteers, and anyone working on behalf of MAN&BOY share responsibility for safeguarding and are expected to uphold our safeguarding standards at all times.
Our Safeguarding Approach
To help ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people involved in our programmes, MAN&BOY:
Maintains a comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy
Has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Safeguarding Lead
Ensures safer recruitment and DBS checks for staff and volunteers
Provides safeguarding training and guidance
Has clear codes of conduct for working with children and young people
Maintains procedures for responding to safeguarding concerns or allegations
Works with parents, carers and statutory safeguarding agencies where appropriate
Safeguarding is embedded in the planning and delivery of all MAN&BOY activities.
Our Safeguarding Promise
At MAN&BOY we promise to:
Listen to boys and young people and take their concerns seriously
Respect every child and young person and treat them with dignity
Create safe spaces where young people can learn, grow, and be themselves
Train and support our volunteers so they understand how to keep young people safe
Act promptly if we are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child
Work with parents, carers, and safeguarding professionals when additional support is needed
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we encourage anyone involved in MAN&BOY to speak up if they are worried about a child or young person.
